What made me believe in The Graph?

I believe in a world where no one has to be controlled by anyone when it comes to the technology we use or finance we involve in. I believe in a decentralized ecosystem where our data and privacy are secure.

The Graph which is an indexing protocol for organizing and efficiently accessing data from blockchains and storage networks made me believe that we are ready for decentralization. The Graph became the role player to solve the tones of the problem we face when we have to query tones of data in decentralized applications. Around 3,400 subgraphs deployed for Web3 and DeFi applications, some of the popular DeF apps are Synthetix, Uniswap, Aave, and Balancer.

There are different roles in a graph network. Let's know a bit about those roles:

Indexer: Indexers are node operators in The Graph Network that stake Graph Tokens (GRT) in order to provide indexing and query processing services. Indexers are supposed to be Technical people.

Curator: Curators are subgraph developers, data consumers or community members who signal to Indexers which subgraphs (APIs) should be indexed by The Graph Network. The curator needs to be semi-technical.

Delegator: Delegators are individuals who delegate stake to Indexers to contribute to securing the network without running a Graph Node themselves. Delegator can be non-technical.

Consumer: Consumers use the applications and consume the data. The consumer can be non-technical.

I am participating as a curator and I have been learning a lot about the graph and also helping from the curator and community member perspective.

I would like to answer some of the important questions related to my participation in phase 4 mission of the curator program:

Why do you believe in The Graph? What inspires you?

I really appreciate the effort of the whole team to solve the major problem of decentralization that is the challenge of querying millions of blockchain data. I believe we are near to the future of freedom of the internet. We will not need the custom servers to build the dApps which makes it easy to the path of Web3.

Why is The Graph critical to Web3?

The Graph will help many projects to build decentralized applications. These decentralized applications are the future of the internet and the Web3 ecosystem.

Which subgraphs are the most critical for Web3 and why?

The subgraphs which are mainly focused on deFi seems to be more critical. One of the examples is AAVE. The only reason why deFi apps are critical for Web3 because of the change we need from the traditional monetary regulations and rules.

What have you learned during the Curator Program?

I personally learned a lot about decentralization, Web3, and how we can move forward on top of The Graph protocol. I learned how complex the blockchain data can be and how it can be easily queried by creating the subgraphs. I understood why we need to have an easy way to build many dApps. I really liked the management of The Graph team and how they help each curator, their questions. It gave me confidence in team spirit.

What are you excited about when curation goes live on mainnet?

Our main work was to contribute to the testnet, understanding the creation of subgraph, creation of schemas for each subgraph, etc. I am excited to know about how our contribution will help graph solve the major problem in decentralization. I am excited to see many of the projects to join The Graph and start using the API for many decentralized projects.

I feel proud to be a curator and would help The Graph for a better tomorrow. Future is ours!
